About me

My name is Anne Willsford and I am a textile artist living in Belconnen, Canberra, with a felting, dyeing and weaving studio that extends into a number of rooms in my house.

I have qualifications in printmaking, industrial design and textiles and, since discovering feltmaking in the early 1990s, have been to many workshops given by contemporary Australian and international felt artists.  While studying for a Master of Arts in the Textiles Workshops at the Australian National University from 2001 to 2004 I began combining weaving and feltmaking processes to create textural weaving.

My textile business, FibreStudio Design, features woven and felted textiles, both wearable and for interiors.  In my felt products I especially like using natural fibres such as silk, mohair, flax, alpaca and bamboo, combined with fine Australian merino wool fleece.  At the moment I focus on mainly designing and making felted wraps, scarves and vessels, but really the possibilities with feltmaking are only limited by one’s imagination.
