About me

Anne Willsford is a textile artist with a felting, dyeing, spinning and weaving studio in Canberra.

I have qualifications in printmaking, industrial design and textiles.  Since discovering feltmaking in the early 1990s as a way to create unique textiles using Australian fine merino I have attended many workshops given by contemporary Australian and international felt artists.  While studying for a Master of Arts in the Textiles Workshop at the Australian National University I began combining weaving and feltmaking processes to create textural weaving.

I love making woven and felted textiles, both as wearable art and for interiors.  When designing my felt products I especially like using natural fibres such as silk, mohair, flax, alpaca and bamboo, combined with fine Australian merino wool fleece.  I design and make by hand a range of wraps, scarves and vessels, but really the possibilities with feltmaking are only limited by one’s imagination.  I also love discussing ideas for special orders.
